Last time, our heroine was talking about zombies and food in book club, now today on the Book Dork...
Nothing totally special, I just finished reading Jessica Z by Shawn Klomparens as part of the online group "I Bet We Can Make a Book a Bestseller" and when I went to post my review, I accidentally posted a link to a wrestling website. Opppss. I had to go back and delete it really quick.
Book club tonight, where we'll be talking about Eat Pray Love. Then 4 more books for review sitting here right now, and two more it seems on their way to me from the publishers.
Here's the link to the review
Don't worry, it's the right link this time. I hope.
Tune in next time for more adventures in Geekiness.

Wanna go see Twilight with me?
Um... er... ah... no?
I said not too long ago that I was done with dating sites. I'm just tired of the bulldren and everything. I've pretty much made a statement to the universe I'm not really going to date again until the Universe sends me the ONE.
And given the fact I don't want anyone other then King Dork that is making things difficult.
So tonight out of nowhere, I got an email from some dude on one of the dating sites I used to be part of. I say used to, as I put all my profiles into hidden mode or deleted them all together depending on the rules of the sites. Seems this dude starred me in his favourites before I put myself into hidden.
I have in my profiles that I like vampires. So of course this dude picked that as an opening line. And what is it with the men in this city that none of them "introduce themselves" ? They all just demand or assume that you're so grateful they noticed you that they just make plans right off the top ? I swear there is something in the water here, as in no one ever got totally over the Beaver Fever of 1998 (we had a full year where we could not drink the water in Thunder Bay as the source was over run with Beavers. The whole city was sick and had to switch to bottled water. This has lead to many many issues with locals unable to drink anything but bottled or filtered water here now, myself included because of the long term effects) turns the men in this city to jerks.
But anyway, my point, this dude opened the whole thing with "Wanna see Twilight with me?"
Um no.
Then asked me if I wanted to go to the fireworks tonight.
Um no.

This is laughable, I finally get asked out and I'd rather stay home and do the dishes. And you know how much I hate hate hate doing the dishes.

I just love this movie
Practical Magic and of course, I could not find the scene on youtube I was looking for. There is just something about the sweetness of this film that gets me every time. I remember reading the book in two days before the movie came out back in 1998. I was just captivated.
I guess in a way I am jealous of the characters. Yes, crazy I know. But, I've been searching my whole life for a connection like that. A love so strong nothing can tear it apart.
I'm talking about the sisters friendships as much as the romances. I've never had that.
I must have watched this film close to 200 times in the last 12 years and I cry every time. But you already knew I cry over everything. I could be watching wrestling and cry over a really sweet Styles Clash.

But my favourite scene in Practical Magic has to be when the character of Gary Hallet turns to Sally after she's told him about the love spell and he says "You know I wished for you too" I mean, who wouldn't go weak in the knees if a guy said that to them?
I've been on a massive Practical Magic kick the last week. Which I usually don't do until closer to Hallowe'en, but I have been. It's like a drug

So what's the hold up?
Was talking to my friend in Edmonton, and she asked me " The maintenance guy from the grocery the other day, why didn't you slide up to him and ask him out? "
My reply "Well I have two words for you, King Dork."
Edmonton continued "If you like King Dork, and there seems to be some sort of something there, what's the hold up? Why are you two not ... you know?"
My friend there was not the only one to ask me this question. I've had two different blog buddies ask me about the whole thing. All I can do is shrug and sigh and say "It's complicated. Yes, King Dork is totally ab-fab but still... the man has made no direct gestures." It's Complicated is honestly the biggest cop-out excuse/reason anyone could ever give as an answer, and I never let anyone off the hook when they say it to me, yet I had nothing solid to say other then "I guess he's just not into me"
My buddy Patrick thinks King Dork is just shy. Really? Shy?
And all I can think when I sit here and try to picture King Dork blushing over anything, is the lyrics from an old Alice Cooper song "Didn't we meet?" (They say you were the king of this whole damned thing and that only confused me... looking at you I swear didn't we meet in the night in my sleep somewhere?) I don't think King Dork blushes over much of anything. But then again maybe he is shy? Maybe he has no idea what to say to me? Maybe his pants are too tight? (no blood getting to his skull)
Whatever the reason, I did not hit on the maintenance guy the other day because he just was not ... not for me.

Um Okay Sure
I was suppose to go to mom's today to do some baking. Her line was busy for half the day. Finally got through and asked how long would it take to make the recipes we were planning on, and she's says "oh I'm going to your Uncle's for supper"
I asked her why she had me running around last night before the grocery closed for the Canada Day holiday getting all the ingredients if she knew she was going to my Uncle and Aunt's for the day?
She didn't answer; which is classic mom.
Why am I here? Seriously? I am not needed, not wanted, why am I here?

How dirty do you want me?
Get you're mind out of the gutter, for once this is not about sex/lust/relationships. It's about laundry.
Everyone and their dog's grandmother had the same idea today, since it's Canada Day and everything is closed, and everyone is home in the building (the neighbour's kid screaming his head off like a banshee, the landlord yelling at his ex wife, etc etc) everyone is fighting over the washer/dryer.
I can't even begin to rant on this one. The laundry room was empty, the washer and dryer empty. I grabbed my stuff headed downstairs and in under ten minutes someone stole the machine. What were they laying in wait with radar? Did they think "oh she's all set I have 45 seconds before she comes back downstairs let's get the machines" cause that's what happened.
Have I mentioned this week how much I really really hate living here.
Dude, seriously all I want is a clean pair of jeans.
