GetGlue killed itself

Okay, a year and a half ago, I was researching a movie for my little movie a day project, and stumbled upon GetGlue.  How, by seeing the "check in to get this sticker" button.
It was cool.  Cute even, you got to talk about books, movies, music, and a ton of other topics with other fans, and you got stickers for it.

Stickers.

Who doesn't love that right?  Kids of all ages like that.

As of this afternoon, you can no longer get stickers from there. As of next week, you can no longer talk about books, music, and random topics.  Like say an actor, or writer, or the weather.   You can only talk about a few tv shows and movies.

And no stickers.

Okay, yes, it's just stickers, we're not saving the world. But, you know what, it brought thousands of people together, talking, trading them, comparing how popular certain episodes were and why, some of them identified by just the latest sticker picture (cause not all episodes titles were available) And it was a good way for many to know when a show was not on.  You had the chance to find out about movies months ahead of time, by the stickers that were available under the "coming soon."

In the last hour since the GetGlue company made their announcements, they have lost close to 2000 users.  In a frealing hour!

So, yes, it's not the end of the world, but for so many of us, it's the end of a really great original social site and the lost of friends.
